Angel Writer – Free Text Editor for Windows
Microsoft Word is a properly good text editor, but unfortunately you have to part with a considerable chunk of your money in order to get it. WordPad and Notepad are built into the Windows operating system and you can use them for free, but they aren’t very good text editors. What you need is a free alternative, a properly good text editor that doesn’t come with a hefty price tag. You need the Angel Software-developed Angel Writer.
The Angel Writer download weighs in at a very lightweight 2.1MB, which is very good news; it means that in no time at all you will have the application on your system. To install it, just launch the executable file you downloaded and go through the steps presented by the setup wizard. Again, in no time at all, you will have Angel Writer up and ready to be used.
Angel Writer’s interface is very similar to that of Word 2003. If you have used Word 2003 before, you shouldn't have any problems getting accustomed to Angel Writer. If you’ve never used Word 2003 before, you would not have any problems either and that’s because every function is neatly presented to you.
Speaking about functions, Angel Writer has a lot to offer. Its text editing capabilities are very similar to what Word has to offer. You can choose between various fonts, change the font size, underline and highlight text, include pictures and tables, align paragraphs, and more. Everything you need to edit text is right there within reach. You can write presentations, letters, anything you want. As a matter of fact, this review was written using Angel Writer and it was a pleasure to use the application.
As mentioned above, Angel Writer is free. You won’t have to part with your hard earned money in order to enjoy the exceptional text editing capabilities this application has to offer.
Angel Writer is a very good alternative to the paid Microsoft Word text editor. It’s just a properly good text editor for Windows.
Pros
Simple installation process that takes little time to complete. The interface is similar to Word 2003 (which is nice if you don’t like the ribbon UI in Word 2007 and 2010). Fonts, font size, align paragraph, autocorrect, insert images, and all the other features you would expect to get from a text editor are included. Angel Writer is free.
Cons
No word count feature.
